ignition module wiring
ignition module wiring
Thanks in advance for any help! Working on my 74 bronco that ive owned for more than twenty years...it has seen better days. I have sraight wired my ignitionbypassing all factory harness. She has 1975 f100 ignition module and assuming distributor. My question is concerning wiring between distributor module coil switch. My distributor has three wires black/red stripe black/blue stripe and solid black. Ignition module has green and black wire on two pin terminal and red white orange blue on other terminal. That being said which wire gets run and which start...then what connects to distributor.thanks again
Green. Black. -2 wire terminal. Red. White. Orange. Blue. 4 wire terminal. In that order. Just looked at factory wiring from distributor orange/ yellow wire. Black/blue possibly purple wire. Black which should be ground. Having trouble finding diagram to match my colors. On duraspark 11 the 2 wire terminal would get "start" at white "which woukd be my green" "run" would be red " which would be my black" this is guesswork without getting out there with a meter but hopefully someone can help. Thanks and maybe i need the practice with the meter
Research is better when im looking for the right icm. I guess mine is a 74 with black grommet. Found diagram showing blue. Black. Green. - 3 wire terminal. Then. White. Red. Orange. Purple. Is orientation or wire color more important when trying to match module? Latest diagram shows black to ground at distributor. Green to - of coil. Blue to + of coil though i dont have this on my terminal and coil is getting power through switch. On the 4 terminal White to start at switch. Red going to run. Orange going to orange at distributor. Purple to ppl at distributor. Again orientation of wiring not exactly the same as my icm...but sounds good. Sorry for lack of diagram i could use to learn copy paste maybe even read instructions to this dumb phone
Orientation is what to follow as colors vary somewhat on modules depending on manufacturer. The extra wire on the small plug was eliminated on later modules. When replacing a module, just go to the Duraspark II, blue module. Replacement plugs can be purchased at NAPA should you wish to make it "plug and play" instead of hard wired.

Im gonna have to say you have helped alot. To add with that electrical.. getting practice i need. I was shorting out the coil in starter solenoid no less. That and corrected i terminal plus wires to right place and laughing then hollering fired up sweet. Only thing switch doesnt turn it off...ill draw out my harness some other time. I grew up in my grandfather's machine shop so more mechanical minded. Trying topicture two transfer cases linked as to allow another dana 44 to be positioned rear or easier to modify dana axles...probably. Steering hydraulic powered by generator in trailer/(back section of another bronco) also axle under power similiar to zero turn and also axle steering. Anyway i got the parts
I lied i dont have the oarts...scraped them. Meanwhile ignition switch is on driver fender quickly i found out it can and will start in 1st.luckily pointing out while having suicide doors i jumped in closed door no impact/trauma. Much damage to front yard due to operator and flooding carb.i call it "spin on a dime" 6 inch ruts. Later i considered tube frame no articulating parts. Aditional transfer case and dana 44. Main hydraulic pulled off engine while secondary electric/bypass. Hydraulic center 9inch can be raised up and down to necessitate driving sideways...is that a word? For testing purposes factory frames may be utilized. And then pull my center up find some snowy mountains in virginia and keep on getting up sideways......
Build sheet. Dana 44 axle. Transfer case. Driveshaft. Hydraulic motor and fabricated bracket to engine. Hoses and cylinders. Fabricated lowered coil mounts and engine manering movement of center axle. Front to back BC Bronco soft top..black or white. Another factory frame(used to have one) in front of tailgate propane cylinders my truck doesnt run well on corn. Paint factory 74 blue the darker blue color code?
