Yes, supposedly when you first push the start button, the timer comes on the EVIC for the grid heater cycle and then the engine starts. If you push the button twice in a row, it will start regardless of whether or not the grid heater cycle was complete.
Just like with the Ford pushbutton systems, if your foot is on the brake pedal when you push the start button, the engine will start. For accessory only, don't put your foot on the brake before pushing the button.
Wife has a 2013 Edge and I have a 2013 F350 Lariat. I understand the whole keyless thing. Thanks for the info on leaving the key in the special spot, my wife leaves the key fob in the cup holder all the time and I’m going to have to change the door code so she can remember it. I also wish that my truck could access the MFT features that the Edge can from the steering wheel.
Come on buddy, they are "work trucks" not luxury cars.
Isn't this the same Tofan who just installed automatic climate control in his "work truck"?
And can you really state that with "work trucks" rolling off the assembly line with touch screen climate control, infotainment, heated and cooled leather seats, power extending and folding seats, and a quieter cabin than some luxury cars? Why in the hell SHOULDN'T they offer push button start?
Which is why it was in " " I was more or less giving him a hard time about wanting the push button start, not being serious, but your right. I retract my statement.

Thanks Tom! I wasn't even going to respond to Tofan's comment "Come on buddy, They are "work trucks".
The last "Work" truck I had was the 87 6.9LF250 XL. rubber floor, bench seat, hand crank windows, manual locks, manual xfer case... yada yada. This truck only fired up when it was going to push, pull or carry...period.
I have the need to tow heavy equipment from time to time that's why I need a strong truck. When I'm not pulling, it's my "luxury" car!
A push start would just have a delay like the remote start.
Maybe a message after pushing it to prevent someone from pushing it again thinking it's not working.
We have the flick start method, what more does everyone want?
With the flick start we sort of have push button start. I have multiple friends who drive Fords who never new they could just "flick" the key forward and the vehicle would automatically crank until the engine started.
At some point this will turn into a generational thing where the younger generation will have no idea that back in the "old days" we actually had to turn and hold a key in the start position until the engine started.
