Curious if anybody has a push button start? Also auto up windows.
The wife has a 2011 Edge and I really got used to the push button start. I guess I'm getting lazy as the years pile up but I don't like looking around the locked wheel to find the ignition. I know it sounds ridiculous but now I try to get in the habit of leaving the wheel turned a little before I shut down so I can see where the key goes next trip. lol
The Edge also has both driver and passenger window auto Down and auto UP. My Truck is a an Ultimate Lariat and I only have Driver side auto Down.
...Just saying you get used to these little features. Both are Fords and the SD is one year newer. At first I thought maybe its a truck vs. a car thing but heck my truck is more luxurious than her car.
Are they options I didn't get or are they just not available? Maybe in the Platinum Edition or King Ranch?
No push button start on sig truck, but auto up/down on driver and passenger windows.
sorry but what's " sig truck" or is that just a typo?
So they do offer auto up and down for both sides, is that on your Platinum?
...hmmmm, I'm gonna look into this. I wonder if I would need new motors or just some relays. I think I'll swing by Ford and see if it's feasible ($$).
Strange, my XLT has auto up and down on drivers and passenger side. Push button start on the truck??? Come on buddy, they are "work trucks" not luxury cars. I would get that passenger side auto up and down checked out though.

"Sig" is me being lazy and not typing "signature". I don't know if auto up/down on both sides is a Platinum thing or a 2014 thing.

Not sure how that would even work on our trucks, with the glow plugs and all
I mean, I guess one way you could do it is have two keys, one always in the truck and remote start, then just have to turn the key in the truck when you do? IDK, I kind of like still having to do it manually. One of my boss's car doesn't even have a key at all, just straight push button, as long as his key fob is within proximity.
That's how my escape is, heck, I don't even have to press the door unlock to get in, it will unlock my door for me if it senses the key in my pocket as soon as I grab the handle. Get in, key still in pocket and press start. That's were I get confused going back forth with driving it and my truck now, lol
Haha! Get in the truck and press the dash. Trucks not starting.....OH YEAH! I have to use the key We are looking at getting an Explorer or Escape here in a couple of years, just as a precursor for when we have kids. How's the space?
We really like the escape, we don't have kids, I think it would be ok though. It was between the escape and the edge and they very close space wise, edge is a little wider.
The Ford engineer that I spoke with said it wasn't likely the SD trucks would get push button start anytime soon. The push button module requires the CAN system, which the new trucks do have so in theory the switch could easily handle the diesel glow plug warm up cycle with ease....it's just a programming step that is needed and it'll work.
The major issue is with remote start and stop capability for the work bodies that fleets require. The CAN system won't interface with any of the aftermarket PTO or aerial boom systems out there right now and it doesn't look like Ford is going to release the CAN source programming to make it possible. Heck, Ford doesn't even let their own techs know what is going on behind the scene with the CAN software so it's laughable to think they will let anyone else have access to it.
For those of you that have a push to start/stop button on another Ford vehicle.... That thing is a module, with a circuit board and chip. Way more complicated than a simple mechanical key switch. They have been known to fail where it keeps shutting off the engine. It will start, but then shut down right away. Very frustrating to try and diagnose the fault because the PCM thinks everything is totally normal.
