There are a few leaves in the 64s heater box, never could figure out how to get at them other than disassembly, but I never worried about. Till now.
Have bought a couple different fire extinguishers for my rigs and neither of them lasted more than a year or two before self-discharging inside the cab. Always garaged but it gets hot in the summer.
They were the smaller kind about the size of a can of bear spray. Anybody have recommendations for a good quality extinguisher that won't spooge itself?
Next thing, a fire under/inside the dash might be real tough to put out once it gets going even, with an extinguisher.
I bought a professional grade fire extinguisher from a supplier at my shop . I was not cheep , $75 , compared to some I have seen . BUT ! cheaper than a truck ! I mounted mine behind the seat on the driver side .I am a bit short , so with the seat where I keep it , I can easily grab it if needed .

This brings up a good point to remember. If it is an electrical problem starting the fire. You have to cut the power to the electrical problem or an extinguisher will never put it out. Especially the small ones we keep in our trucks.
I wonder if you can get small extinguishers with Purple-K Extinguishing Agent. It's some pretty badd **** stuff.
I was thinking along the lines of Halon, but spose that is unobtanium by now. Have been meaning to install a battery disconnect, too. $75 for an extinguisher? Well, they aren't giving them away are they. Don't mind the price so long as they are quality. Peace of mind goes a long ways.
