So I'm on the way home from Autozone today and smoke starts coming from the heater vents. Within seconds the cab is completely filled with smoke. I pull over and hop out of the truck. Like 2 minutes later the truck is up in flames. THIS SUCKS!

Ooooh DUDE!!!! So bad, sorry for you man!! THAT does suck!! Big ol'mosnter donkey ones!! WTH happened?!! Wiring short? Least ya got out,,,
Sorry for your loss man. That really does suck. But at least you can still go home tonight. Keep us posted about this. Like as to the cause and dealing with the insurance on the truck. That is if you have full or classic car insurance. If it's just liability then it gonna hurt even worse. You have my sympathy.
I'm not sure what caused the fire. It looks like it originated behind the dash. Most of the damage appears to have occurred from the firewall back. The part that really sucks is that I only have liability insurance on it.
If there's a bright side to this story. It's that the truck looks fixable. I'd recommend a new cab though. But do able. Again sorry for your loss here.
Glad you made it out without a scratch. The truck may be toast but at least you aren't a crispy critter. Sorry it happened to you. This is one of the reasons I decided to scrap all my wiring and start fresh. To many things that can cause something like this to happen. My wires were horrible and the connections were sketchy at best. I was scared after a few sparks one day...
