Trans shifting hard could it be the governor?

Hey guys My AOD 4 speed tranny is shifting hard into 3rd gear, when it does shift into 3rd gear. Could this be a sticky governor? Sometimes it down shifts hard also. Any ideas and how hard is it to clean it? also I noticed it does not always shift in the same spot. Please help. Thanks Scrobbie.

What is the trans code on the drivers door pillar on your truck? If you have the E4OD(trans code E) or 4R70w(trans code U) shifting is computer controlled so you would start by pulling codes, but if you actually have an all mechanical AOD(trans code T) then the TV cable preload determines internal line pressure and by association shift rpm and firmness. Follow the directions in the link to correctly set TV cable preload.

Yes sir I have a trans code T And I have adjusted the tv cable from this video I have it in my desktop Unfortuneately I did have it adjusted kind of hard because my old rig seemed to have a bucking problem. so I adjusted the tv cable because the problem was at a lower speed. Let me see if i can explain If I was Going say 35 mph let off the throttle the speedometer dropped to 25 no throttle then hit the accelerator to speed up, it would kind of miss and buck a little unless i punched it. This one reason why adjusted the cable like I Did because it seemed to go away dont know why myself. Thanks scrobbie

Sounds like you have engine control problems so pull the codes to see what's up and fix anything you find, and then you can set the TV cable back closer to stock.
