Aod TV cable adjustment

I have a 1989 f150 with a 302 and a AOD trans. This just started and I have not messed with the trans or the TV cable. It feels like the trans is slipping when you first take off, and it shifts through all of the gears very quickly. I will be doing about 30 mph and the trans will have shifted through all the gears and will bog down very bad. It will not shift Down until it about dies, or if i floor it. My question is do you think this is a adjustment issue with the TV cable or something else. Thanks

My 95 was doing something similar to this. It turned out to be a bad TPS, as crazy as it sounds. It gave a code for the throttle position sensor, I changed it and to my surprise it started shifting normally.

Correct me if im wrong but I believe that only worked on your truck because it was an E4od, and AODs are not electronically controlled

I'm sure Marko was just trying to be helpful but yeah... his truck has a totally different trans with electronic control and you don't so the cause of this problem will not be the same.
The symptoms do sound like a TV cable issue so check that out first, maybe something has broken or become disconnected, be sure to check both ends of the cable to verify that it moves in sync with the throttle.

AOD TV Cable adjustment

Jumping in late, forgive me...I too had issues. The PO used a cable bolt? and drilled a hole into the TV lever; well that allowed for 30% max throttle. Since been fixed but cannot find a replacement cable that isn't gold plated. I finally got some insight on adjustment; hope this helps!!!

Yeah I actually watched that same video earlier today. Im completely lost, I adjusted it as he has shown here, and it did indeed draw the shifts out longer, but as soon as im coasting around 30mph, it up shifts by itself and bogs terribly.

I had an 89/302/aod truck. I hated that transmission and the way it shifted. It wanted to get to high gear as fast as possible. Horrible manners around town.

I measured the clip on the cable and then loosened it and pulled it a couple notches and snapped the clip down. It would then go a bit farther before wanting to drop into OD. Originally in town it would go into OD at 35 mph. That was horrible. Moving the cable would make it go over 40 mph. If I was in town enough I would just pull it down into Drive and that would eliminate the OD issue.

I would move it a couple more notches and see what happens. If it is slipping it is burning the clutches and will destroy itself in short order.
