Thanks. I'll handle the door when the VSS is done. One thing at a time since I'm not a good multi tasker. Now I have to roll the window down and reach outside, push the button on the outside to open the door. Next thing on the list. By the time I get done with this truck, I'll be able to offer advise and help people like you guys. Live and learn right?

Yep. Been there, done that. Now I'm paying it forward. The gang here has helped me keep my truck running smoothly. Following the advice here has helped me increase the horsepower and MPG, as well.
After you learn what we know, you can pay it forward to the next generation of truck owners.

Thanks a lot IDMooseMan. I ended up buying a new VSS from the dealer but haven't put it on yet. We have 6" of snow and high winds so it'll have to wait for a bit. I'll update when I'm done. Thanks a lot guys. Zoltan
OK, I finally had the time and the temp is about 45 degrees outside and put the new VSS on. I haven't tried it out yet since I'm alone with the kids but it's finally on. Everything went fine on the install and Thank all of you for that. If I have any trouble with it I'll come back and ask. If I don't, I'll come back and report. HAHA I can't wait!!! Now it's onto the door handle and probably I'll look for threads on how to improve MPG. Take care everybody and be safe.
VICTORY!!!! I finally took her out to 100 mile round trip and my speedometer works, and the transmission shifts fine. Thanks a lot for all your help and be safe out there! -Zoltan

I think you may be feeling the effects of the torque converter locking up and the post lockup shift into fourth gear. Sometimes when the converter is locked, fourth gear seems like it hits a little hard as the converter is now mechanically locked and has no fluid dampening from the turbine as all of the other gears have.
Mine does similar things, but at a much more violent rate. I have a triple disk billet converter and I feel it lock hard as hell, and that shift into fourth is rough too since there is no slippage in the converter.
Isn't the torque converter supposed to unlock for the 3-4 upshift and then relock afterwards? It's been a while, but I thought that was how my old truck did.
Yes it is. It never worked really well in the diesel E4ODs because of the software and the stock tunes that ran with it. When you add a triple disc converter with a lot more clutch capacity to the equation it is likely that it never unlocks during the shift.
