I've reused all mine. They have fail safes in place aside from just torque. I guess the best practice would be using new spicer or ford parts after each removal but it's not an aircraft and im not using someone else's money so....
i have only replaced one in 45 years of wrenching.
and that was because it was put on loose by the owner and backed off, tearing up the threads when hte axle went for a ride.
i had to replace it when i replaced the spindle after towing it off the road.
I'm guessing that is probably a disclaimer that Rockauto puts on all their spindle nuts. Many of the spindle nuts that are used on automotive applications are, indeed a one-time use because you lock them in place by peening them into a groove in the shaft (think front wheel drive cars), but the ones on our truck are made to be secured by other means and they are reusable.
Yeah I 99th that. I have never replaced a spindle nutexcept on my dana 80 rear end. The bearings got spanked out so bad by the time I figured it out it snapped the axle and spanked out that spindle nut. When I went to Ford they said Oh yeah. We dont stock that old of a truck anymore. I had to order it thru Big3 bone yard in St Louis. That place ROCKS for really hard to get stuff.
