HELP with my next purchase PLEASE

My turbo is shot and I'm looking for a new, can get one off a 2000 truck with 150,000 miles on it for $300 or is there something out there that's upgraded and worth the cash.

Second thing is need a tranny cooler, was suggested this Xtrude cooler but seeing what all you guys have tried. Thanks a ton.

That thread title will draw plenty of input - it's akin to "Somebody spend my money."

The transmission cooler from the 6.0L Powerstroke is the most widely recommended cooler here. While I don't have cooling issues (yet), it makes sense to me: It is a bolt in, it's a "factory" mod, it's straightforward (no fans-n-stuff), and there are tons of installs out there - so there are plenty of testimonials from rigs with your engine and transmission.

If the turbo is dusted, you can rebuild it cheaply enough - so it doesn't sound like a big risk for that price. Others know more than I do, though... I upgraded.

If you are running stock injectors then the stock turbo is just fine. Many times they can be rebuilt.
Garrett GTP38 Turbo Rebuild kit

If you need a new wheel then you can find them on ebay for a few dollars. There is a guy that buys new stock turbos and installs a early style wheel and sells it as a Banks turbo knock off.....he blows out the original wheels for a few bucks and they are still brand new.

The 6.0 cooler is very good.
The Tru-Cool Max 47391 is OK but this cooler also works very well
transmissioncoolers.us: Tru-Cool LPD, thick cooler & standard installation kit

I have used them all and the 6.0 cooler is probably the best but I can't help but think that the full benefit is seen by also using the 6.0 transmission cooler lines along with the cooler itself. At that point the price gets up there a bit. The 47391 works OK but it is a bit more restrictive than I'd like....still flows to spec but it doesn't flow as well as the 6.0 unit.

The 4590 is a high flow low pressure drop unit. It does a pretty darn good job when coupled to the OEM 7.3 cooler on these trucks.
