Transmission cooler options

I read lots of advice on the 6.0 cooler upgrade, but I was wondering why no one puts an additional cooler on with the factory cooler retained that would be equivalent to one 6.0 cooler?

Just wondering cause the 6.0 cooler is big bucks.

The 6.0L cooler is larger and lower restriction. It also bolts into the stock mount. It's the best cooler you can get.

I'm sure you can find other coolers that are better than the stock one, but not as good as a 6.0L cooler.

It is pretty big. If I wasn't too concerned about having it mount like a stock one, would it be just as good cooling and "resistance to flow" wise to add a nice stacked plate cooler above my OE cooler?

I'm just thinking I could cover the front of my truck in coolers for the price of one of the 6.0 coolers. But if there is some big reason to use the 6.0 style then I guess thats what I'll get.

What about a aftermarket 6.0 vs Factory ford ? Aftermarket 31 row goes for like 280 vs ford 350+

Is there any real diffrence between the two ?

Plenty of people put a second, aftermarket cooler on the truck. Try Trucool.

The truck comes with two coolers. I think he is asking about adding a third cooler.

I was more looking at the actual 6.0 cooler it self ( 31 row not 26 )

parts guy ed wants 405.xx
rock auto is 271.xx
partsgeek is 274.xx

Is there a benefit to buying stock vs. aftermarket for build quality or durability ?

I know with radiators ( similar to a cooler in a way ) there is generally a huge variance within the aftermarket's

ex: Factory ford / Koyo / Spetcra / APDI

In this case the Ford and Koyo are very close as far a fit/finish and quality and the others are much lower on the totem pole
