I got all the parts for my lock cylinder connections. When hooked up, I can "unlock" with the key but the rotating the lock will not push up to the "lock" position. There is no adjustment as I can tell. the mechanism works freely without the hookup.
This is installed correctly I think. Any suggestions? is the rod reversed? is the cylinder reversed?
Looks to me like you've got the cylinders reversed side to side. The clip that I sent you and lever should be pointing toward the door jamb, not pointing forward if memory serves me. I can take a picture of an installed set but not until later this evening when I get home.
Thanks Chad, It seems that it should point toward the jamb - But ND was adamant that the illustration he shows is correct. The rod is 'askew' and maybe the lever should point rear. If yours points rear - I'll switch the cylinders.

OK, if he's already taken adamant then I'll be vehement!! Hahahaha
It goes toward the door jamb. This is drivers door.
Keys do always seem to go in teeth up and rotate top towards front of truck to lock - top towards rear to unlock. Your mileage may vary.
Thanks for the picture Chad. I'll try it the other way contrary to the ford illustration.
ND, if both lock cylinders are the same, and the lever points rear (away from the vent window) one key would be down and one key would be up.
My cylinders may be the same -however the lever on one points left and the other, right.
Leonharu, because they point both ways, the key with teeth up or down is possible depending which side you install them on. In my case the tumblers are on the top as in the picture, teeth up.
I'll exchange the cylinders and have the rod in a more vertical position like yours Chad
keep you posted Thanks all

Ours were installed as shown by TA455HO's photo. You can have key insert teeth up or teeth down as the lock cylinder can be installed one way or 180 degrees around -- will work either way as long as the lever is installed as his photo illustrates. This is with repop cylinders; maybe originals are different.
Sure, it's simple to pop off the E clip on the back of the cylinder and mount the lever the other way and put the E clip back on. Teeth can go however you want them. If supposed to be down, cool with me. I like mine teeth up for whatever reason.
I just did this on my 66. Key goes in both cylinders teeth up. Cylinders are side specific (but that may be because the actuating arm can be flipped by removing the E clip). I had a set of original cylinders and I bought a set off ebay. The arm on the cylinders of the ebay set were loose and I reused my originals. Also had a heck of a time finding the left and right upper retainer clips (mirror image). One other thing, I'd spray white grease on the latch assembly. That little locking arm on the latch should move really easily. BTDT recently.
