Crack all your lines and crank, best advice i can offer. Wait till theres fuel at all 8 and lock em down.

When you crack the lines and crank, make sure you have the throttle all the way at max. This will pump as much fluid as possible through the system, making it easier.
I just take the accel cable off the pump where it attaches(it just pops on/off), and the spring which pulls the lever towards idle. I can then just push the throttle to 'max'(as far towards the rear of the engine as possible), and it will stay. Then, just use a screwdriver on the starter solenoid on the passenger side of the engine compartment(Note, pull the little boot off the single, small terminal in the middle, and short it to the terminal which has a bunch of wires attached to it to crank).

Also, after getting fuel to each injector, tighten down the lines and give it a small shot of ether(*). You'll have a /much/ easier time getting it to fire.

(*Note: Make sure you don't have hot glow plugs when using ether. If you turned the key off and then on recently, wait for ~20s after the last click for it to cool down. Then give it a little ether and crank)

If it's shot anyway, you could always run the thing on 24V, by putting a second battery between the + terminal on the battery and the starter's + terminal.

So long as you make sure that it's /only/ the heavy + starter terminal which is getting the 24V, you shouldn't ruin anything more than it already is.

This is one of those old tricks we've done in the past with an old, failing starter with nothing to lose.

Alternately, just /run it/. Make sure you've got good connections to the starter, and just crank it over, 15 seconds at a time, until you get fuel or your starter finally dies completely.
