I agree. Waste of money.
Asking Hellwig about it , did you really expect a different answer ?
To improve things you should get the factory bar up to speed.
Replace the frame-to-swaybar bushings and take a good look at the end links.
Check out the two VERY good front sway bar threads in the Excursion tech folder. Lots of pics, lots of info, lots of part numbers for upgrading worn bushings.
So we're all in agreement, rear bar is a must (we all seem to have it already). We all have a front bar OEM, but no one has the Hellwig "Upgrade". I'll call them now and see what I can find out and maybe I'll be the test mule
I don't have the rear one (and never will) and the Ex doesn't roll or do anything annoying. All a sway bar is is a temporary stiffer spring and they will throw you around more also. Try disconnecting the bar and going off road, it will be like riding the trails in a cadillac.
I was more referring to a must as for DD and not the Hellwig so much as just having one in general. Like you said though, it's all in what you're looking for
Yea, I'd say a sway bar (singluar) is pretty much universally agreed as needed (if for some reason your ride doesn't have one). Adding a 2nd is more for individual taste.
Well I'm good then I'll definitely replace all the bushings and things though. Honestly as much as I gained from the rear I didn't expect a lot more from upgrading the front. You off road guys have to remember I'm 2wd so no off roading for me, no lift for me, and I'm 5.4 so no real mods for me either... none that matter at least.
Seriously bud, I know you have priorities with your house, and you still wanna upgrade your rig, but this would be wasting your money.
Stewart
Well... I spent a little over $150 today... on my first ladder for the house (8 foot fiberglass), 32 inch crowbar (redoing the bathroom and it was $12), and a 5 foot fiberglass level I feel a lot more satisfied with these purchases too. We don't have attic stairs yet, just the hole in the ceiling with a board covering it so now I can get up there, cut the hole out right and install some fold out stairs Home owning is fun Thanks for all you do Stewart!
