Found this tonight and am thinking about it if you guys have something good to say about it. I already did the rear and wow... one of the best mods I've done so far. I'm 2wd and 5.4 if that matters.
Does ours come with one from the factory? On smaller cars I've noticed a difference before, sometimes a drastic one. I was just hoping this would make it a little more stable
I didn't have one out back at all when I got it so I just assumed I didn't have one on the front. I'll go look today, but I just thought adding one would be a lot better than not having one at all.
I think all ex's came with a front swaybar. My 2000 2wd has one. I did change out the end links and the swaybar to frame bushings. The bushings were completely shot. Dried out and oval shaped opening. The bar could easily be moved by hand.
So we're all in agreement, rear bar is a must (we all seem to have it already). We all have a front bar OEM, but no one has the Hellwig "Upgrade". I'll call them now and see what I can find out and maybe I'll be the test mule

...uh, no, I wouldn't say that "the rear bar is a must". Actually, I'm reading three or four posts in here saying that they only have the front bar.
It depends on your ride and springs. Weak springs = more roll than normal. Good springs = a single front sway bar is fine.
If you've done a V/Modded B or similar spring change, you could be stiffening the suspension even more by adding that 2nd sway bar.
Stiffen up the roll too much, then come out of a parking lot onto a street with a decent gutter and you'll knock yourself out on the side glass since the sway bar won't let the suspension travel as free as it should and it throws you around the passenger cabin. Stiffen up the axles too much then go off road and drop into a rut or pot hole and watch the entire body shift left or right instead of just the axle...maybe tear off a running board, etc.
I talked to Kevin at Hellwig and he is pretty adamant that this will make a huge difference. He pointed my to S&D truck springs who we've all used and they are much more reasonable. I think I'll bite the bullet on this one and buy it up next paycheck if we can afford it (damn house payments). I'll be sure to talk 100 pictures and do a complete install how-to. Just out of curiosity, do you think they would give me a discount if I sent them a complete install with video for them to load up to their site?
He gave me the measurements of their bar for the 2wd:

I was more referring to a must as for DD and not the Hellwig so much as just having one in general. Like you said though, it's all in what you're looking for

You'll be wasting your money. The front OEM bar is a good bar.
I love the rear Hellwig bar, but for the front bar, there will be very little difference if a person replaces a perfectly functioning front sway bar with a Hellwig.
Seriously bud, I know you have priorities with your house, and you still wanna upgrade your rig, but this would be wasting your money.
Do you have problems with your front bar right now?
