Alright currently I own 2 F250's and one has to go.
First one - 87 4x4, 4.9, NP435 granny 4 speed, open diffs front and rear, 3.55's.
Second one - 92 2wd 460/E4OD, 3.55's
Both single cab long beds. My intended purpose is to haul a 17 ft bass boat (roughly 25 miles to lake), vehicles, and haul my four wheelers to riding areas.
I currently use the 92 because I bought it first. I love driving it, runs freaking awesome, shifts great, and it needs very little work. Things like door lock actuators, window motor, and radius arm bushings. Minor things. I need to fix the blinkers on the 87, also needs a new seat, needs a full tune up, needs tires badly, battery, heater core, head light assemblies, and it has some rusting on the frame. It's just surface rust now but I live in AR and in my area things only get rusty from being mudded. It shows 17,xxx on the ODO but it's rolled over, untold amount of miles. 92 only has 104,xxx miles and has almost no surface rust at all. The 87 needs a good bit of work, but it drives almost as good as my 92. Now my thinking is, the 87 will do better at boat launches and getting around to 4 wheeler riding areas since it's 4 wheel drive, the 92 is a one wheel wonder. This is where I need help deciding. The 87 needs more money into it obviously, but what would you guys sell? I have them both up for sale currently but I really need to decide on one so I can really get the other one out there.
I have bills that need paid, and whatever left over after bills I'll be putting it into the truck I keep. I plan on putting an LSD diff in the 92 if I keep it. And the 87 will get mostly maintenance related items. Also the 87 has a clear title where as the 92 has a rebuilt title. It got sideswiped and had the fender, door, cab corner, and bedside replaced but the frame as far as I can tell is straight as can be and it drives like it's never been wrecked.
I would sell the 87, pay your bills and throw a LSD into the 92. In fact, you could probably find a LSD sterling in a local yard with 4.10's fairly easy. I know I see a LOT of them here.
Wow that is a tough one. the 87 being a 4x4 has that advantage but with open diffs it's not as desirable. I guess it depends what all you plan on doing with them. maybe sell both and get one that will fit exactly what you want without a ton of upgrades/repairs. That towing of 25 miles of a bass boat you could do anyone of the vehicles in your sig. I'd maybe look around and see whats out there and get what I want or pick the one with the best mileage and go from there cause gas isn't getting any cheaper....

What would be really awesome is if I use the left over cash to convert the 92 to a 4wd. Then all my problems would be solved.
You got that right. That's why I bought the 87 in the first place, figured it would get better fuel mileage. But after I bought it I got to driving it and looking it over even better and then that's when I realized how much it needed. I only paid 900 for it so I'm still not doing too bad. Only paid 800 for the 92 though lol
Hard to say without really knowing the trucks, but personally I'd always take a manual over an auto, a 4wd over a 2wd and probably a 300 over a 460.
As far as 2wds on boat ramps go, it really depends on the ramp. I've almost never used 4wd on a boat ramp, although with a manual trans I have used low range to keep from slipping the clutch when it's steeper. The only times I've needed 4wd was once on a very steep paved ramp in a light rain or a few times on unpaved ramps. But it nice to have 4wd as an insurance policy even when you don't need it.
Honestly if the 87 was a little newer and auto (so it would have the E4OD) this would be a simple decision. I hate shifting. Oh and both tanks work in the 92 but the 87's front tank is the only one that works. I keep telling myself that I should keep the 92 because the 87 has so many negatives but "four wheel drive" keeps ringing through my head lol.

i know a guy who used a 2wd truck to haul his boat... he only did it once, and only needed to get pulled out once. i go boating with my old man and use his suburban, it always goes into 4 low before the trailer tires hit the water, 4 low is indispensible on a boat ramps around here, but they seem to be steeper than most boat ramps in other places i have been to
