Ive been thinking about pulling the C6 outta my F-250 lately. Then the ZF-5 came into mind. I know I'll need a different bellhousing, driveshafts, etc, but do they make adapter plates to allow a zf5 to mate to a 400?
You may have to use a spacer for the pilot bearing or flywheel. I believe the clutch is the same but the distance from the bellhousing to the end of the nose on the input shaft is different.
Gary Lewis did this swap and he's the man to talk to. The threads called Dads zf5 swap, he's tested and worked out all the bugs. Its the right trans for a 400 DD.
Just a crazy thought, but since this is all about sorted, has anyone tried an E4OD from a '92-'96 460 truck behind a 400? I've got my eye on a Bronco for a future DD and some EFI and an overdrive automatic trans would really make it nice.
