what does "divorced" transfer mean?
Can someone please give me a short answer? Thanks

No, really it is a transfer case that it connected to the transmission by a short drive shaft.. not directly connected to the transmission..

A divorced tranfercase has a driveshaft between tranny and transfercase. A "married" does not...

Married- coupled, bolted, joined together.
Divorced- separate, not joined together.

The transfer case is not directly attached ( bolted ) to the transmission . A short drive shaft connects them together .
