Howdy y'all it's me again.. I am bored, so I decided to try and find out why my front end feels terrible, like a vibration or hopping feeling on throttle and popping on take off. I think part of it is old injectors, but I know SOMETHING is wrong up front!
I've done the usual, tires balanced, different wheels, new LF hub assembly. Well during icemageddon a few weeks back I was able to use 4wd. It was grinding and had a "gear skip" feel to it kinda like the axle was skipping on something and not engaging. All 4 wheels was working though.
Anyways I am trying to get the RF hub locker off and I can't get it to budge for the life of me! Also noticing the little axle is turning when I turn the rotor. Am I doing something wrong here? I thought the little snap ring held it in and it should slide right out?
might try soaking in penetrating oil over night,& try working loose with a rubber hammer.sounds like from the noises you need to disassemble,do a search, find instructions for ball joint replacement, like guzzles write up,it will help you through the project, you will find most any info & links needed at the top at "first read " section.
Thanks CH! I got the locker out and it is shot I think. Sounds terrible when I turn it by hand. Also there is a ton of slop where the axle sticks through the hub. I thought the snap ring behind the locker held all of that snug? The drivers side locker had slop in it also. Is this normal?

Sounds like the hub assembly needs to come out to inspect the stub axle needle bearing and rear thrust washer.
