Ya I think something is wrong with mine. Sometimes it's very loud clunk. Sounds painful. Other times hardly nothing. Same speeds. It won't shift when stopped on auto 9/10 times I get pull forward message. Works great after it engages though. Maybe just have to start using manual hubs more. No clunk then
Just an update after getting my auto/locking hubs replaced on my 2011 F-250 Diesel. The hubs turn freely now with no problems. Even in the cold, down to minus 37. Thankfully it was just covered by warranty as I have almost 160,000 kms on the truck which is close to 100,000 miles.
We just had 39 inches of snow and the police closed the highways and many roads b/c of blizzard conditions. Even the snow plows were taken off the roads. I had to stop 4 times on a backroad as just couldn't see the road for the whiteouts. I was heading back home. The 4x4 worked great, and I was in the lock position. Going into my driveway I had a snow drift about 6 feet from the road in and on one side the drift was almost 5 feet high half way across the driveway, and about 2.5 feet on the left side. I tried going thru, not thinking I would do it but dang, went through. I engaged the e-locker as well. I have great winter snow tires on the truck and when I went back to look at my driveway at the entrance. It looked like a big plough had pushed the show out of the way. I was worried about my front deflector thing below the front bumper but amazingly, no damage. Haven't seen a snowstorm like that in a few decades. Had 3 days of no work because of the storm. I closed the school.
