Front Hubs

After a bit of a battle with Ford I just got new locking wheel hubs installed under warranty because my others were seized. I'm thinking about coating the new ones with Fluid Film to prevent corrosion. Has anyone else ever done this. Thanks in advance.

Your best bet to prevent this in the future is to regularly turn the hubs from lock to auto and back a few times every now and then. I do it a few times a month when i wash the truck.

What's the purpose of having the hubs that maually turn? Will it not go into 4x4 if they are not turned?

If the ESOF system fails you can turn the hubs to lock and still have 4 wheel drive. Esof systems on these trucks are known to be quirky at times to say the least.

Needed also in the situation that if you get stuck with the rear wheels(like buried in sand or mud) before you engage 4x4 you need the manual lock in feature because normally they need the wheel rotation from the forward motion to engage but that wont happen when rears are stuck and just spinning.
