Locking Hubs Meddled With
Yesterday I drove just a short trip, and when parking noticed a slight amount of the usual "bucking" which happens when making a sharp turn in 4 wheel drive on pavement. Not supposed to be in FWD at all. Prompted by a posting on DieselStop I checked, and the hubs were locked. The shift-on-the-fly switch was not activated, so the transfer case was not engaged and there was no warning light to alert me that the hubs were locked. I KNOW I didn't leave them that way. I blame some passing smart-aleck SOB. I hope I haven't driven far enough to do harm to the hubs and bearings.
If you live where passers-by could meddle with your truck, or park it where a few beers might prompt someone to be mischievous, it might pay you to check your hubs occasionally.
