TPS Setting

Does anyone know what the normal tire pressures are so the TPS will not alarm? The sticker on the door says 65 front and 80 rear for my F-350, but I think this is a bit high when empty or not pulling trailers, etc.

Additionally, is there anyway to adjust the TPS settings?

Your dealer can change the settings, if they choose too. some do, some do not citing legal issues. I had mine changed to 60PSI all the way around, but had to sign a release form to be able to do so. Some of the Tuner's can also change/turn it off too. Unloaded, I run 65PSI on all tires.

I agree 80psi in the rear is way to firm unloaded, and will cause premature tire wear.

I'm not sure about the fronts, but the rears will trigger the low tire pressure light at anything less than 60 psi. You then have to refill them to 75 psi or higher to clear the light, after which you can reduce the pressure to anything above 60 psi.

I set my rears to 63 psi on a near 0 degree day. Gives a very good ride and it shouldn't ever go below 60 psi unless it gets to -25 degrees or colder. I leave the fronts at 65 psi.

Are you sure it says 65 front and 80 rear? 80 rear suggests a dually if I'm not mistaken. Mine has been as low as 62 front and 70 rear without TPMS warning. I think the threshold is 60 psi. The TPMS should have separate limits for DRW.

65 front, 80 rear is what's on the door pillar sticker of my F-350 SRW crew cab 4X4.

70psi won't trigger TPMS warning from rear, but below 60 psi will. I'm guessing the fronts could go down to 50 before a warning occurs.

Yes, this F-350 SRW Supercab is 65 and 80 on the door pillar. I will try reducing the fronts and also the back a few pounds at a time. When empty and 80 in the rears I only ride on about the center 4 inches of tire.

I had my dealer lower my rear set point as well. It was a small battle, but an email to the owner cleared it up quickly. This also helps during tire rotation so you don't have to relearn location.

That tire sticker is only there to advise you as to what tire pressures to run at maximum GVWR.

It is my understanding that the threshold for the TPMS sensors is set at 75% of the recommended 65psi front and 80psi rear pressures. I like to run my rears lower than my fronts when unloaded so I retrained the system and told it that the fronts were in the rear and the rears in the front. I aired down to 80% of recommended and after a few days the light came on so I went to 85% which puts me at 68psi for the front tires and 55psi for the rears and have not had the light come.

Per Michelin and my actual axle weights I can go even lower without safety issues.
