That's been our experience too... it's a survival instinct to stay away for fear of being injured ....
North Texas must have been home to a bunch of wild things - we've been in the area since the 80's and have spotted all sorts of things that want their land back !!! coyotes, cougars, bobcats, and I think a black panther that cleared a 6 foot fence from a standing start !!!
We think we had a small family of coyotes in the vacant 2 acre heavily wooded lot next to my next door neighbor,
we've both seen them in our back yards in the late evening at dusk...
My dog chased the LARGE female out of the yard one day - I'm like you fool dog !!!
thank goodness the coyote saw us and took off instead of turning on him !
Well I live pretty close to the local golf course and I've not had any issues with golfers coming on to my yard yet! Those pesky gophers though can make a mess haha
