I did a little research, but can't seem to find a straight answer anywhere
I've got 76 highboy. 205 divorced case. Blown NP435. I have a lead on a np435 out of a 2wd truck in good working order.
Will a 4wd tailshaft housing (with the tcase shifter attachment on it) and yolk swap directly over to a 2wd transmission? If so, and assuming spline counts are the same, can I just stick it in?
Thanks in advance

Reason: re-word
I had a 76 250 hi boy divorced t-case with a C6 and the yoke was not a slip on yoke. It had a large nut inside the yoke. So I'm thinking your hi boy 435 does also. The 2wd 435 should have a slip on yoke. So you'll have to swap tail shafts.
I took a 435 for a 2wd (slip on yoke) and swapped the tail shaft and tail shaft housing to switch it over for a 4wd married t-case. The housing is obviously very simple to swap out, but the tail shaft has to go out through the front of the case. Yep gut it. Sounds like a pain in the ***, but it's really pretty easy. These NP435's can be rebuilt for like $150-$200 if the gears are good. If you can get the 2wd version cheap, buy the rebuild kit and put one together. I can't believe they get $750 for a rebuilt NP435.
I have seen many 2wd trans with the output shaft threaded. and wouldnt a 2wd longbed with a center support bearing have a bolt on yoke? My C6 2wd has a bolt on yoke. So I do believe that a 2wd trans will work for you. If you find one with a slip yoke, slide it off and see if the end is threaded.
The np435 in 78 f350 1 ton duallies have the 31 spline yoke held on by what I think was a 1 15/16" nut. Sold one last year to a guy who needed the heavy duty piece for his 4x4. If it helps
