speedo help

on my 96 explorer the speedo most always reads 50mph. it goes to this as soon as you take off. you can be doing 5mph or 75mph and the speedo goes to 50mph and stays there. everything else on the instrament cluster works. is there something i can replace on the speedo only or do i need to find a good used intrament cluster? thanks, wb

Speedo issues

I have a 96 explorer XLT 4X4 it too has some speedo issues it reads 4 to 5 MPH faster then actual speed and cruise control is all over the place, searching for the correct speed, it is the VSS which is in the trans, but have to fix valvebody in mine wont upshift unless you come off the throttle, and it threw a engine code PO756 which says its a stuck solenoid, hoping its just the valve body gasket I hear they have problems with that trans its the 4R55E good luck with yours.
