1994 trans (type E) slips in Drive
For the last year or so my son's 94 5.0 Bronco (198k) has needed trans fluid added on a regular basis; about a total of a quart every few weeks. The manufacturer's certification label identifies the trans as Type: E. The owners manual lists four different transmissions with a wide variance of fluid capacities. A few days ago it was so low that after driving a couple of miles the trans would just slip when in Drive, but would move well in Reverse. After putting in a quart of fluid it moved fine for about another 2 miles. After that, we put in another quart at it still would not move more than 1 foot in Drive. Does anyone know which trans is the one identified as "E"? I don't want to just keep pouring fluid in if it just leaking to somewhere I can't see.

Trans code E = E4OD. This gearbox is completely computer controlled so pull codes and diagnose and fix any problems indicated related to speed input, MLPS, or TPS before you dream of working on the transmission.
