Transmission

I have a 03 ex with a V10. Just recently my trans has started giving me problems. Sometimes when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd I get what feels like a slight slip. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all. Feels almost like it is downshifting for a second. It also doesn't seem to make any difference wether I am hard on the gas or not. Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

When was the last time you did a trans fluid flush?

When I bought the truck 3 years ago it had 77000 on it. It has 88000 now. I don't know if it has ever been done. Heard some horror stories about changing trans fluid with this much mileage if it hasn't been done before

There is a chance that if you change the fluid the trans will fail. The chances of the trans failing if you DON'T change the fluid are higher.

You are the perfect story of how this myth of changing old trans fluid can hurt the trans gets started. Nothing is done to maintain the trans until it gets high miles and develops a problem. Then the fluid is changed WAY late, and it doesn't save the trans. So now the new fluid is the cause. No it isn't. The neglect for 88,000 miles is the cause. If I had bought this truck with 77,000 miles and an unknown history the trans fluid would have been changed in the first week or so, and I'll bet the trans would still be fine at 88,000 miles.

One thing worth checking are the feed bolts. They are accessible by removing the pan. If they loosen the clutches don't get full pressure and can do this, among other symptoms.

Just dropped it off at the dealer to have the trans serviced. Thanks for the advice! Going to schedule the wife's car next!!!
