Subscribed as I would like to hear what color LED's he used. I think I'll try the blue ones that are said to give 7100K light. That's a cool white, and should approximate our trucks' original lighting.
As I am currently redoing my 84's wire harness and dash. I'm going to check this out for sure!
Every one of those lens covers rotted off and I do not like the "warm" white light effect in the cluster. That green look GOOD! Need to see some blue clusters next!
Subscribed I hope to see what color he used I'm tired of having to squint my eyes at night or even turn the dome light on to see how much gas I have left lol!
I'm putting these on my wish list. I installed a set of green 194 bulbs in mine, and painted the back of the bezel white. After taking out the old lenses, it's noticeably brighter than stock, but half as bright as the LED's pictured. Thanks for the info.
Factory tach and no trip odo? Curious what you had to do to get a factory tach in these trucks-- I hardly see them!
Yes I used green LEDs, with those blue halfway melted filters removed. Oh and if any of the bulbs don't work just turn them around in the plastic socket and they should light right up.
Wow. I have a very nice cluster in my truck, and the factory lighting works as well as it did when new, but it ain't anywhere near as bright as that.
I put all new bulbs in, and cleaned the dust off the blue covers prior to installing the later model tach/trip cluster. I just thought it was well lit......
Might have to see about getting some of these LED bulbs for the next time I pull out the cluster, to modify it for the diesel swap.
Yup. I'm absolutely going that way, but either white or cool white. But, I will have to find similar bulbs for the aftermarket gauges. Hmmm, hadn't thought of that.
