The original blue colored plastic filters do become opaque/cloudy with advanced age. In previous posts, some have mentioned removing the filters [some have crumbled away] and replacing with 194Blue and others have said 194Green. I would have thought blue would come closer to the original.

Which is right?
I used the LED green lights and removed the blue plastic covers completely. I like the look so much I am going to do the same with my two '70 Mach 1's. All three vehicles of mine have green dash lights, not blue so for me it's an easy choice.
Yea, blue LED's from superbrightleds.com. I actually turn the brightness down when I am driving because they are so bright. I will also be re-painting the needles. Should really make the gauges look nice.
Also, if you decide to take pics of the LED's in the dimmed mode you will probably not be able to tell a difference in the picture from fully lit. That's because your camera will adjust its exposure to make both of the look the same. But, if your camera has a manual mode you can still do it. Just take a pic at 100% in automatic and note the aperature and shutter settings. Then put the camera in manual mode and dial those settings in. The resulting pic will then represent the actual lighting.
Very sharp! I hope you can post after the needle work. If it looks anything like the shift selector, it's a winner for me. I'm curious as to why the green seems to have a more balanced illumination on the speedo's lower/lower-left area.
The green from the OP is great - nice and old-school looking but I find the blue a bit softer on my old eyes.
