Did it smoke when you purchased it? How cold was it when you got it?
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/V5ybzyMkcck" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The dodge in the top left video after you watch this one has a cloud of smoke bellowing out.
Skip to 3:20 mine is more like this. The smoke was weak in the other vid.

Just to let you know. It was -20 here this morning and my truck left a big trail of steam even after it warmed up. It got up to 15 degrees and took it to the store to get a little moonshine anyway it blew out exhaust some until warmed up and then stopped. When it gets super cold like where u are that truck is going to steam all day long. Hope this helps. I have to take care of this cold, moonshine time.
I saw that someone said FICM once and then ~~~~~~
Nothing. Have you checked the FICM voltage ?
That battery problem can cause problems. Low Voltage + FICM = PROBLEMS
Look in the Tech Folder for how to test one with a meter. If it's under 45 Volts
it time to get it fixed.

X2. Forgot about that. Got on the whole egr issue and got sidetracked.
Other than the black puff in that start video it looks like mine
when it's cold out. The black puff could be FICM or nothing.
Sean
Hey Sean I dont think thats his video. I think he was using as an example. "I think anyway". I gave u a rep you but couldnt put any words in the box. Using my phone and I guess I am limited.
Hey guys sorry for the late update, xmas and stuff didn't get on the laptop. Anyways.. i'm back to post 1, batteries died on me again.. this is how it went.
Didn't have the truck plugged in, thought hey what the hell. it's supposed to be -2 tomorrow which is fairly warm. Went outside to start up and put the smoke video up for you guys to help me diagnose my issues and i cranked it after cycling once, cranked fast and normal but didn't fire, cycled again and cranked and... dead. Great.
Have let it sit for 2 days now just because i was mad. Went outside to start checking wires and terminal connections etc. Batteries were at 9v (dead i know) and by the tire i was done cleaning wires and looking for corrosion, cleaning terminals etc, they were both up to 10v.. how does that even happen?
Anyways, that's where i'm at again. Alternator was charging at something like 13.8 so if that was good, then i suppose it's my batteries or a wire somewhere. So once i can get it started i'll still make that smoke video to show what i mean.
As for my FICM, i will check the voltage but i don't see that being an issue, as if someone jumps me or i charge my batteries, it fires up like a normal diesel would in -20 weather, with minimal injector stiction for the first MAYBE 10 seconds
