Does anyone know what the part number is for the socket needed to remove the bearing lock ring out. I am trying to take the brake rotors off so I can replace them..
if you mean the one that holds the hub on its a 4x4 hub socket actually uh idr what for, but you can rent a whole set at any auto parts store. i just kept my rental
a screw driver an hammer also work, there not suppose to be tight. it is only suppose to be snug, on install turn till drum/rotor starts to becomes stiff to spin. if hard to spin, you got it to tight
Its the rear ones. I have mitchel on demand and it says to tighten them down and then back off of them and then final step is to torque them to 40 foot pounds. Finding the proper socket to remove them has proven to be a bit of a pain in the as*. I just wanted to do the brakes on this thing. When i put them back togather should they turn free or have a bit of drag? Following the inst from mitchell they have to be set to 40 ft pds and doing that puts a bit of preload on the bearing. The hub and rotor will spin but not very long where before I took them apart it would just spin free for a bit if that makes and sense.
That's what I have. It's not very common either. When I tell part places I have a f superduty they are like superduty 250, 350 or 450. I correct them over and over
