Lock ring
I have to dismantle my manual locking hub assembly and i'm stuck on the lock ring that prevents the outer hub from coming out. What's the trick?? I tried using a flathead screwdriver and then a pick but it eludes both. 1989 F-150 with 4x4 44 IFS front axle.

In my experience there isn't really any trick. Get two small tools (I have used small hex keys in the past, as well as picks and punch tools), use 1 tool to pry 1 end of the lock ring up, then use the other tool and drag it under the lock ring all the way around the perimeter (the first tool keeps the end from falling back in). It might take a few tries but this has always worked for me. Good luck buddy.
