glow plug controller

Hello all. I have a 1986 f250 with the 6.9 non turbo. I have a new controller ordered and am wondering how much of my dash do I have to remove to change this myself. Thanks for any help.

The controller is on the back of the block.

Controller on the 86, don't mind the artwork, lol

There has been cases where it twisted off in the block when it was being removed, so careful.

The glow plug controller is on the back of the motor, drivers side of center, not under/in the dash.

-Enjoy

thanks for help

Thank you all for your quick help and pics. You can hear the controller clicking and it sounds like its under the dash and my mechanic said its close to the firewall. Just assumed it was inside cab. Glad to see its under the hood.

Actually the relay is behind the passenger side battery, the one down on the inner fender, not the one up on the side.

The relay is what you hear clicking.

Have someone turn the key on while you are by the passenger side battery with the hood open, you will hear it very good and find it real fast.
