She'll be comin' round the mountain
On Sunday if things work out. Really didn't need another project right now, but was looking at some old trucks on a site and this caught my eye. What I saw was an 'Anthony Dump Hoist', which is something a buddy of mine is always looking for. He has 3 of them in use on his working vintage dump truck fleet. When I showed him the picture he said he'd split the cost of this '47 2 ton with me AND split the cost of getting it here from Minot ND. I promptly sold an 8n I never use for my share of this '47 venture. My plan is to meet the trucker over on the mainland, and transfer it to my trailer on Sunday. I don't know if it's stuck, but I have a really good 59ab that I had rebuilt 15 years ago, later removed and stored in my attic (no kidding) jic, this one is toast. It has a 2 speed rear end, 8.25 x 20 tires, and will come with a good, complete hood, and with the outer duals strapped to the chassis..... I have a 9' factory script stakebed for it already. Just talked to the guy and it has been loaded on the truck in four degree weather and is headed west as you read this. Details soon...

I get my share, for sure. I keep them moving and never put too much into them, so my wife is ok with it. I like to do the mechanicals on them then race around in 'as found' condition. At least visually. After a couple years something comes along to replace and I get to do it all over again....

They got here a day early so I picked it up yesterday. I had to pick up my wife's christmas present, so I returned with a mixed load. The truckers were Russians, so it was sort of hard to coordinate a drop off location, but when we got iy figured out they were really nice and very helpful, even though they were obviously in a big hurry to get to their next location, Portland Oregon. I have owned well over 30 old ford trucks, but have never seen more rust free sheet metal than this. The dents will buff out. Eating breakfast now and trying to figure out how to diplomaticly go out and start the process of unloading, filling the cylinders with diesel and marvel for the big soak. I wish it wasn't 3 days before Christmas. I guess I'm supposed to help decorate and organize around the place before all the kids and grandkid show up. Don't worry, the first phase will happen. Oh all she wanted for Christmas was some more hens for the new coop we built this fall. First stop yesterday was a very cool old farm in the Skagit Valley for 4 Rhode Island Reds.... So I'm thinkin'of another verse : ' Filling the back of the truck with some cluckers, then off to meet with these two Russian truckers'..........

Was listed on 'hotrod garage' in Minot for 2200.00. My buddy paid half to get the hoist system, and half of the shipping. I offered the place 2000.000 and he took it.( Has clean title too ) .... So the shipping was 900.00 (divided by two). I'm into it for 1450.00 delivered. Thats why I sold my 8n on CL for 1400.00 plus 200.00 for local shipping. So it was free. (sort of) Lots of good ford trucks on the site. Dick and Mikes Hot Rod Garage. Just poured 3 quarts of marvel/diesel down the carb. No time til tomorrow to pull the plugs. Nicest floors and doors evvvvvver. Off to some kinda church thing now............

Grain truck, only used seasonally. Shows 17,000 on the clock. No way it's 117,000 IMHO. I'm thinking it was kept in a shed or barn in the 'off season'. I'm glad you noticed the pedals, I about **** when I saw them! I wish I could contact the PO or his heirs. Maybe Dick will fill me in. I'm pretty much in heaven with this thing. Marvel Mystery Oil, do your stuff.........

That ferrry deck looks familiar... I love riding those boats, I'm mostly on the Seattle ones though. I've never had my truck on them though, always get nervous that it'll wind up in the drink somehow.
Your 47 is nice for sure! The floor makes me envious, it's got less rust than my 73!
If money were no object, my dream truck would be a 38 2 ton 4x4 with a flathead Lincoln v12 with a crashbox and a brownie... And paint exactly your 47. Time does the best paint jobs!
Good luck with the flathead!

That's a great sounding combination. Like Bob Seeger, I like 'em 'way up firm and high'..... Here's my old '38 tonner I drove daily for 10 years in the 80s/90s. Put a 4" merc crank in the 59ab. Towed better after that! My last project is the '59 F350 9' flareside. Today been planing lumber to deliver in it tomorrow. Will probaby finish at about 1000 bf. I swapped in a Cummins '6at' 6 cyl turbo diesel, gm sm 465 4 speed. I have a brownie for it, maybe next winter project. OK, now I'm hijacking my own thread.....
