PLEASE HELP!!

Hey everyone. New here but have browsed this and many more sites for help without any luck. I have a 1996 F150 4X4 with a 5.0L and manual transmission. Just recently whenever I try to back up my truck sputters and stalls. I runs just fine forward and idles just fine with the clutch engaged (pushed in) and in reverse but as soon as I let the clutch out it sputters and tries to die. As soon as I push the clutch in it stops. I have read about the VSS issues but my speedo works just fine. I even tried unplugging it with no success. This is driving me CRAZY as I can't think of anything else that could be causing it. Also when it stalls out it kills all power to everything like the radio, phone charger etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Broken motor mount? Sounds like it's pulling the power cables off the starter when it torques up.

I would check the wiring harness by the tranny, maybe the shifter is pulling on or rubbing on the harness when in reverse. Like to hear what is happening.
