Change to throttle cable?

How do I get rid of the factory bell crank setup in favor of a throttle cable?
Mine is very sloppy and hard to operate. This is on my '68 ranger 390/c6. Has this been done already or is there a tech article somewhere that someone could direct me to? I'm really tired of the current setup. I broke a motor mount a few days ago (VERY healthy 390) and when it let go the motor lifted on the drivers side and held the throttle open (SPOOKY)
Thanks
Greg

I need to swap to a cable also. I have fabricated a direct linkage without the bellcrank also, but it doesn't solve any problems. I am running a 460 with the Stealth intake. The intake is taller so the linkage runs uphill to the carb. When the motor torques it rises in relation to the firewall and pulls the throttle. Which causes the motor to torque up more. When pulling a trailer it gets dangerous. It feeds on itself and once you open the throttle ,it throttles itself. I have replaced the motor mounts and no change. They are just too soft. I noticed the 80's era trucks have a throttle arm that you might could adapt. It bolts on the firewall and a cable runs inside to the arm. The arm, pedal and cable connection are all inside the cab. So a cable comes out of the firewall, and goes to the carb.

I have a 460 in my truck. Remove all the linkage that's causing you problems and pitch it. I got a pedal assembly and cable from a 79 Ford truck. The pedal assembly will bolt in place at the 3 holes in the firewall. Attach the cable to the pedal assembly and the other end of the cable to the carb. The cable will fit either a Holley or Autolite carb.

The alternative is: Replace the worn out (after 42 years) bellcrank with an NOS original.

C7TZ7A185A .. Bellcrank Assy / Obsolete

Fits: 1968/69 F100/350 360/390 C6.

CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has ONE = 704-786-8139.

GRIESEL MOTOR CO. in Okarche OK has TWO = 405-263-7242.
