I have the powertrax in my 8.8 and don't like it. It gives great traction but really shudders and jerks bad if you gas it on a turn. It also causes the truck to pull pretty bad if the tires aren't inflated exactly the same. Kinda mad for a little over$400.

I have not be happy with the auburn gear's setup.
Thanks
What don't you like about the auburn?
THe powertrax is by all means a locker, and "automatic" at that. Meaning that it won't be smooth or quiet because it will lock and is meant to be used in something that will need full locking capability. Its noisy, and can be harsh on the road, but it will give you the best traction for the least investment. Its not supercheap by itself when compared to other differentials, but it does avoid installation costs and setup of a full carrier replacment.
