Hood hinge problems

My 62 f100 has some screwy hood hinges the edge of the hood closest to the cab sits high. The hood does not sit all the way down to where it contacts the bumpers. There is also a little play in the hinges but not enough to get the hood to sit all the way down. Can the hinges be repaired or is it best to just buy some new ones? I have tried moving their positioning but it seems that it's the hinges themselves. Anyone have this problem before and what did you do?

I have read that you can heat up the rivets hot and then hit them with a hammer to get some adjustment out of them, does it work I don't know it is only what I read somewhere, but it can be tricky.

Try this post. A bit of reading but not bad and I think the answer is in there about the washers.

Holy crap guys! It actually worked! My hinges are going to need to be replaced, but the washers really leveled it out. Thanks for all of your help.
