55 Hood issues
Working on my first project truck F100, will be getting new suspension/drive train. Working with hood and there are ripples and bends in the upper hood including the mid hood peak like it was a little abused. I do know these hoods don't align right (and this one is actually off an ex military F600) so they could see some creative pushing and shoving. I was wondering if there is a way to reinforce the hood so it isn't quite as flimsy. I have the rear cross brace removed currently and was thinking of spot welding a doubler that follows the rear hood line left to right, then double the inside if the hood flange that meets the fender. I was also thinking a piece of half round stock would stiffen the peak detail from ahead of the cross brace position to near the front of the hood. I'm use to working on KC-135s and aluminum more than welding steel, but was wondering if that approach will work without causing more harm than good after I get the wrinkles out or if it's just not needed. Might do a front tilt hinge option is a second reason I would like it less flimsy.
Just to add, the cab edge of the hood had a couple cracks, welded those up but that was also something I wanted to lessen the stress on.
