I'm having trouble getting my hood to stay down in the back. I have the hinges adjusted down but the back edge of the hood still pops up. It use to stay down untill I made the trip to the Turkey Run. Since then no mater what I do it still pops up. Has anyone else had this problem, and any sugestions on how to fix it?Thanks for any information that is out there.

Someone smarter than me will chime in here pretty soon, but I believe the problem is your hinges are worn out. When you close the hood, the springs pull the hood back and because the hinge is worn out, the back of the hood goes up! If you take the springs off and close the hood, it will probably line up. Mine did.
I have this same problem right now. The hood sticks up about an inch on the passanger side by the cowl. I have been told there could be many reasons this happens. Bad cab mounts, damage to the frame. That would be great if my only problem is a busted hinge. Let us know how it works out.

Oh boy i've run in to this alot.
I could show you how to fix it but putting it in words is hard.
Look at the indge with the hood open you see theres a nub near the middle pivot now start to close the hood you'll see a short link bar comes close to the nub if it's in the poped up position the bar passed the nub. Basical ither the hindge is worn at the pivot points of the things just needs a little squizeing to fix it.
I use a C clamp to mush the space closer with the hood open.

I now see what you are talking about. I got some new hinges and was taking the old ones off and sure enough that was my problem. If anyone wants some pictures to figues out what 44 was saying email me. Thanks for the help bud!!!

i have fixed my hinges in 2 seprate trucks. first remove the hinge then the spring BE CARFULE IT IS LOADED then with a tourch yess tourch heat the rivet that is week (you can see witch one is allowing the hinge to spred) i used a peice of railroal track in a vise behind the rivet and got the rivet red with out getting hinge too hot use a dull chissel and re spread the back of the rivit carfull not to cutt off the flair. its a pain butt its worked for me. i had to work over most of the rivets on 1 set to get it to hold the hood up corectly.
I readjusted the hinge and it helped some, but i think it needs replaced. I have another set and will change them as soon as I get time. Thanks for all the input.
The quickest but a bit more costly way is to drill out the pins and replace them.
As you probably know, the pivot pins and brackets are made of mild steel. Over a period of time the pins and holes ware and rust some, creating slack in the hood hinge pivot points with the spring tension on it.
This is a somewhat time consuming project but well worth the effort. Take your time and you will get good results.
1. Remove the hinges from the hood.
2. Remove the springs from the hinges.
3. Identify which pivot pins are the loosest.
4. Drill approximately 7/32" hole approximatey 30% through both ends of the pivot pins.
5. Chamfer the hole a resonable amount.
6. With a hammer and a hardened tappered drift pin with a small enough tip to go into drilled hole, drive the drift pin into the hole a small amount at a time until the hinge pin expand enough to take up the slack in the pivot pin bracket hole.
Step No. 6 is best done if you have access to a hydraulic press.
Please ware saftey glasses and be aware of other saftey concerns.
This proceedure will enlarge the pivot pins and take up the slack, allowing the hinges to be tighter.
NOTE: Be sure to keep the hinges lightly oiled to prevent rust and ware.
