I've done the 6 Amp charger paralleled with the block heater mod before, and an electric battery blanket. Really the batteries are what does the cranking anyway, the block heater just makes it a bit easier.

If you start hacking the block heater cord, you'll notice that you can actually separate the plug end of the cord from the rest of the cable assembly - GENIUS idea as you see how many cars driving around with replacement cord ends because the original molded plug broke off. This means you can simply buy a cord plug end from Ford and still be able to revert to the regular plug if need be.
