i just purchased an SCT XP3 from a fellow member here, and found that you have to do some manual installs for windows 8 to get the updater program and drivers installed properly.
i also found that the firmware will not update as it should - the unit sits there saying "boot loader" and the computer just says "updating".
they were doing this last night when i went to bed and were still doing this this morning. I've been trying several different ways since yesterday afternoon to update the firmware. I wondered if anyone might have had this problem and solved it?
it does not appear to be in the file itself, i found a version of 1.2.156 on the mustang forum and it also would not update. it appears to be getting hung up before the actual file installation happens.
for anyone that comes across this thread later - it was an issue with the driver, I called SCT and they remoted into my system and fixed it up - only one of the two drivers were installing.
they didn't care that i bought it used, they were happy to help, and very courteous.
