I have everything lined up (dowl pin on trans, bell housing bolts, T/C studs) and the bell housing is about an inch from butting up against the engine. On problem, the freakin' thing won't move anymore! It is like something is hanging it up but I have looked everywhere for cumulative 3 hours and I see nothing hindering it from mating with engine.
Am I missing something or did I forget to do something that will allow it to slide the rest of the way up?
New tires, calipers, front wheel bearings/seals, speed sensor, oil change, full tune up (incl. fuel filter) so I am just waiting on this trans to be installed!
Oh, it is the F150 in my sig line
Thanks gents
It sounds like the torque converter is not all the way in..... You should feel 3 distinct (notches, for lack of a better term) as you install the TQ.. If it's in correctly the studs on the TQ should be about even with the engine mating surface on the bell housing...
If it not in all the way don't force it, if you do you WILL break the pump!!!

The studs are flush, if not a little behind the bell housing. I thought that at first too but that TC will not go in any more. Also, even if it wasn't, shouldn't the studs on the TC still go through the flex plate? I know the bell housing wouldn't mate with the engine but it seems like the TC would still go all the way up to the flex plate.
Maybe I described it wrong. I am about to go out there and try some more. If I don't get it Ill take a couple pictures. I do NOT want to force anything though...don't want to have to replace that pump again. I just am not sure what is enough force and what is too much. Seems to me it should slide up there fairly easily?
Thanks guys
