I did the 3G swap. Love the concept, but I have been having a squealing belt issue, ever since. The belt is lined up. I went to an AX42 belt in the hopes of filling up the pulley, but the squeal still exists. My first PNP alternator went by the wayside. I bought a rebuilt one and the squeal is there. Any tips before I decide to re-invent the wheel?
Check your belt alignment. If you put in to big of an alternator a single belt wont cut the mustard there is a reason they don't come with a single belt pulley on them.
He already mentioned the belt alignment is OK and the alternator wont squeal from load unless there is a pretty significant load on it; like charging a very low battery or running something that creates a serious draw.

Just go serpentine and be done with it.
What is needed for this? Also, what models had the 2 pulley alternators?

What engine do you have? I've seen some walkthroughs for a 460. I think you'd need a new water pump to go with the pulleys.
You can buy two grove pulleys online. I had one, but I never got around to having a crank pulley with two of the same size grooves on it. Rjm Injection gsm them, I think, but I got mine from Napa.
We can only work with what we're given. He says it's aligned.
84espy: Did you already have a solution in mind when you mentioned reinventing the wheel?
I was thinking of putting in a separate idler pulley that would be machined to fit the backside of the belt. The alternator would then be fixed with the idler picking up the slack with the belt wrapping the full 180 around the pulley.
Also, if I go double pulley, wouldn't I have to change the water pump pulley?
I didnt change mine. I never RAN the second belt I put on, but I did fit it up. That was about the time I noticed that my crank pulley wouldnt work with it.
This was on a 400, though. I'm not sure on anything else.
Some pages online have measurements, so you could figure it out before buying, or maybe even mock something up.
So I went to PNP for some more ideas on this pulley business. I found a double pulley alternator in a Bronco. The crank pulley was there and it looked like both pulley grooves were the same size. The other thing I noticed was that the alternator pulley was not wrapped around the water pump. Mine is. Is mine configured wrong? Is there enough turn from the power steering pump/crank to operate the water pump with no ill affects? I also found an idler pulley that I'm going to tinker with.
Lots of bullnose there. Not too many dents or bumps, though.
