If you're running such high power off road lights and a 2K watt amp, on a stock amp, you either are draining your battery, or not using any of your add on goodies. Or dont quite understand how that electricity stuff works. Your amp alone if you used it to capacity would draw down your battery in very short order, all while your little 75 amp unit attempts to keep up.

Weren't you just talking about how wonderful the GM unit is? Why aren't you running that instead of your pathetic Ford POS?

Since youre suggesting that a 3G unit needs an expensive, custom mount, once again, you have no clue what youre talking about.

Good try, though!

Guys, play nice. First, gpence, we know that you don't like the 3G. That's been made clear on other threads. Second, you know that I am not going to use anything but a Ford alternator for my Ford truck. You are going against what a forum is designed to do. And that is to help the OP through what his problem is. Sometime it is vague and sometime it is specific. In my case, it is specific. If you do not have usable suggestions as to what can help with my issue, please don't post.

Yes if I run both the lights & thw stereo it drains the battery.
Why haven't I switched... Because stock alts still works fine. Have a brand new 120 amp alt ready to throw on once the ford alt dies.

Some of those nerwer Taurus's have the huge aluminum mount that lt bolts into & it sure don't look like it'll bolt right in.
And judging by the $200-$300 kits to install those alt's I've seen forsale.

How's that?

Good To answer your question, yes, I needed a custom bracket. Fortunately, I have access to lots of different materials. So the materials were cheap and my time when I work on my truck is free. Speaking of:

Bullitt, what did you use to make your alternator a top mount? I'm liking that the more I look at it.

That is the 100% stock setup for the Ford 360/390.
