You can buy it back from your insurance company. They will write ot off and pay you out so much. you should be able to buy it back from them for anywhere btwn 10 to 20% of your payout value.

Thta was how it worked out for me, it was about 15% of the value of my payout. All they are going to do is send it to a salvage auction and get what they can for it. If you have parts that are still good and you can use them on a new2you 6.0 then it may be in your interest.

Do NOT mention anything to them about buying it back till you get the best settlement offer to you in writing, then once you have received and offer you can live with, say to them after that.. oh hey I was thinking of buying this back from you, what would it cost me to do it.

They will more than likely take you up on it, otherwise they have to pay for a flatbed and charges for the salvage auction. If they sell it to you they do not occur those charges and save themselves some cash.

the only issue is, they are already getting it towed from the yard on tuesday, i still havent got the settlement offer yet, they are towing it somewhere, obviosuly not to the auction yet, because it is still mine, if they still have it i will try to buy it back, because i honestly think it will turn right over with a new oil pan, the glow plugs were heating when i trned the key on when it was on the flat bed.... maybe idk, but there are a lot of parts i want.

either way

I can't even imagine a vehicle this big flipping end over end. I'm curious as to what made you lose control, I guess we will never know.

Regardless, its a miracle that you are still alive. I like to believe everything happens for a reason, so you must have a purpose left to fulfill in life, even if its just to take care of your family.

If you think there is value in it , then see what they want to buy it back. It is legally still yours till they write it off and give you the cash for it. They are probably taking it to a holding oor salvage yard. They wont be able to do a lot with it till you have signed off.

So you still have the ball in your court, they cant sell it or auction it off till you have signed off. But if you think the truck has value and want to buy it you can, you may have to pay it to get back to your place though, or if you have a friend that has a trailer that you can pick it up on and kick him a few bucks for gas, either way sometimes buying a vehicle back is worth it if there is items you can use off your vehicle.

Lord knows if you pick another 6.0 you have a selection of stuff that you can use off your old vehicle

In my case, they told me to find ads that were comparable to my vehicle. Well, i financed it at 20%, lol, so anything i found was way lower, so i dragged my butt cuz they were providing me a rental, and i wasnt in a rush to have to pay a deficit. Everyone i talked to said that it was normal, that they pay the current value, not what you owe.

They sent paperwork to sign, initial, blah blah blah. I put it off. Finally, a girl called and told me that i had to sign and fax the documents over immediately!! I asked why, she said that by law they had to get it handled within 30 days (or whatever) and if not, they get fined and it affects their rating.

I told her to contact my finance company, get the payoff amount, and fax a document over stating that as the payout, or i was signing nothing. She had it faxed over with 2-3 hours.

Just my 2 sense...

Yes you either accept it or not

But Do Not sign anything if you don't agree

and You DO Not want to buy that truck back its too much damage

But if its like my Last car they went off Blue Book Value High side I believe

SO if you Owe Less money they pay truck off and write you a check for remainder

I went threw this with the Wife Car but it didn't have very much Damage and was fixable

A shop bid to fix but they went over the amount of Blue Book at that point they wanted to total it. That shop wanted to replace lots of parts that wasn't broke

I thought they was Crazy to total car out But Came down to an Incompetent INS Adjuster and Crooked shop what in the end worked in my Favor

I let them Total it I bought it Back at that 10-20% whatever and in the end after paying the tow truck and all they paid off car and I got a Check for around $$600.00 PLUS the Car

It took me 400.00 Bucks to fix the Car I used a Junk yard and some new parts and I put 200.00 bucks in my Pocket

My Car worked out Great for me it has a Total Title but that don't matter to me it rides great and now its Paid for

But Your trucks got to much Damage I wouldn't buy this one Back

I know its Hard to let go a Truck you put so much time and Money in But that thing is Toast

Besides every fender and cab being jacked up you could have Frame Damage

Your going to spend a Small Fortune trying to get it back on the road and with that amount of damage it might Never ride right again

Ultimatly its up to you but if it was me I would let that one Go it Hit HARD theres just to much damage Im sure theres Lots more damage you cant see until you get into it

I lost the Pics of wifes car but you guys would Chit if you saw why they wanted to total it there wasn't much damage at All
It was 400 bucks and a couple days of my time

If yours wasn't so damaged Id say go for it But your going to get into it and wish you hadn't that would be a Nightmare

In a roll over without a front end impact, you WOULD NOT want your air bags to go off. Be glad they didn't or you may have gotten significant injuries. SIBs (side-impact air bags, or curtains) would have protected you in a roll over situation, but we don't have those in our ancient trucks.
Also be glad that you weren't in one of those light weight trucks that get better fuel economy. Fords are built much more solid.

On edit: OOPS, I didn't see pages 2-3-4, LOL.

Don't worrey let them tow it

Go get the Parts you can get personal stuff out

The INS Co just want to tow out of the Auto wrecker yard because they have to pay a Daily Fee for Storage Mine was 25.00 a day IIRC

Its SAD that the tow co plays off your Misfortune but that what they do the whole world is Crooked anymore everyone wants to make money for nothing

SO they will tow somewhere where it can sit until you guys strike a Deal and they don't have to pay Daily storage

That How my wifes car ended up at that shop that totaled it

I don't blame the towing company for charging to keep the vehicle. It is taking up space in their lot.

Benny has some very good advise.
And I see that olfordsnstone said something
about the airbags. All they could of down is hold
you upright ad the roof cam crashing in. Not where
you want to be.

Sa for where the sensor for the truck is. Look on the
hump right of the throttle and you will see a plastic
cover and that is where the little beastie is hiding.
3 screws 1 plug and an arrow on top point to the front
of the truck.

I will tell you this. You are very lucky it could of been much worse.
If you have not yet you really need to get looked at by a Dr ASAP.
Somethings can take days to show up and if you have not seen someone
the insurance co can give you a hard time.

Well my thing is you had a Misfortune and they could give you a day or two before they start with the Fees

They just made money off the Tow

My wifes tow bill was around 700.00 Plus storage fee it was towed 3 times the First tow it ended in bad spot took 2 tow trucks to get it cause where it ended after crash

Towed To the yard then the SHop then My house they made 700 bucks towing alone it happened on the weekend Friday night so it sat till Monday

So they made 700+ for maybe 3 man Hours and 2 trucks

Sure I am with ya they should make some money But I got Raped

Hey Joey God always has a plan, that day was not your day, in your thinking of letting ford, school kids, fte or whom ever about driving ( fast, Icy roads ,hydroplaning, day and nite driving ) is the semi plan for you . I'm sorry that you have put so much into your rig, your truck Can be replaced ( YOU Cannot) the quest begins . we wish you well in the healing.

The towing company made their cash and they charge the insurance co for how every much it is they charge per day to have it in their yard. All the tow company's do this when your vehicle is towed to their lot.

They make money more ways then just the towing...lol...but hopefully you will get an idea of what they think your truck is worth from their first offer, then after that it is game on to try and get a better settlelment and see if your reciepts and what not for anything you have done that improved the truck is going to help in getting a better pay out, it will be a fight because they want to give you the least amount possible.

As Blade said if you have any injuries seek your medical treatment sooner than later and make sure you give your insurance information, and keep records of any hospital, doctors office, physio, medications, medical aids ( crutches , cane, neck brace, bandages etc) that you need and keep all your receipts.

If you spend a dime on something medical related you make sure you have a reciept for it so you get the money back. If you go to your doctor or the hospital you make sure they know it is from this accident and they have your insurance info.

Keep track of any time off of work and make sure you have a doctors note advising you to take whatever period of time off that was recommended to you, and of course make sure you give work a copy and the insurance a copy but you hang onto any originals, same things with any recepits keep the original in case they try and claim they didnt get it, you can always send a copy, but if you give up the original then your SOL.
