I have a dumb question, just bought an 84 f350 6.9 diesel, its got duel tanks and the valve, but i cant find the tank selector switch.
Its not in the same spot by the light **** as my 96...
Anybody wish to let me in on where this thing is
Didn't I read once that the tank selector switch is located on the same small panel as the climate controls? I only toss this out there since nobody who knows for certain has responded yet.
It took me a minute to figure that out too. On Whitey my 96 it's a rocker switch right by the headlight switch. On Jr. the 82 it is by the climate control. Like Gary said it mirrors the fan speed switch.
I will tell you another one. For years I didn't know I had a tilt wheel on my old 1980. A guy I know was talking to me by my driver's side window and suddenly said "hey did you know you have a tilt wheel?". I said "no I don't", and he reaches in and starts to push down on my turnsignal lever. I was ready for him to break my lever off, when all of sudden my steering wheel fell in my lap.
He showed me the hole where the turn lever goes in was shaped like a "T" and that's how he knew I had it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't pressing down on the turn signal lever turn on the left blinker? How can I tell if my truck has tilt steering?
Since I bought it, the lack of tilt steering has sort of baffled me, as the truck has literally every other possible option (that I know of). The cutout where the turn signal stalk enters into the column looks like sort of a sideways "T". But my efforts at pressing the turn signal lever toward the dash have been fruitless.
If you have a tilt column, the turn lever presses forward an inch or so, to release the wheel, but maybe you have a non-tilt column; the latch doesn't take much pressure to release.

I don't mean to jack the thread, but the tilt wheel thing coming up is too convenient. Can someone PM me a picture (or post in this thread) of what the stalk looks like on a tilt-equipped vehicle? Mine sure looks like it would press forward (there's a notch in the plastic column cover for it), but there's a lot of resistance. I'm curious. Also, does the turn signal stalk simply unscrew out? Or is there a set screw that holds it in?
Try to wiggle the steering wheel up and down lightly while trying to press the turn signal lever forward. This might take the resistance off of the latch.
Tilt and non-tilt columns look virtually identical on the outside; if tilt, pushing the TS lever dowards the dash should result in the column springing upwards, not falling in one's lap (if it falls down, something is broken).
Pushing the lever merely compresses a spring-loaded latch that kind of resembles a big circlip - a bent-up, tube of spring steel, you can see it in the pictures, below, and there's a YouTube video I made for somebody else that kind of shows it...
Well I'll be... It does have tilt. Glad this thread popped up.
Turns out the spring latch thing was just stuck in place, probably from not being used in 20 years. I did put pressure on the column up and down, but it took an unusually high amount of force (almost felt like I was going to rip the stalk off) but it finally budged. After whatever resistance gave way (20 years of crud/corrosion?), it works pretty smoothly now. I may have to get in there with some penetrating oil to free things up some more.
I just couldn't fathom how it could have power windows, locks, and every other option known to man, but no tilt. Seems the only option I'm aware that Ford left out was the factory tach. I always thought any manual transmission equipped vehicle would have one, but apparently Ford doesn't agree, The junkyard tach I bought only works when it likes to, so that's the next item on my list to fix.
