1979 fuel tank switch

I'm not sure, but I think for that year truck all you need to do to check if your switch is bad is to find the fuel selector valve and check for voltage being on when the switch is set for one of your tanks and voltage being off when the switch is set for the other tank.

Ptrill,

What happens exactly when you make the switch? Does the fuel gauge change....does it still pull from the front tank. The Haynes guide has a good section to test the switch/valve by disconnecting the fuel lines, having someone flip the switch to see if the valve changes.

I thought I had a bad switchand/or valve, but it turned out I had a hard-to-see crack in a section of the rubber fuel line causing me to pull air instead of fuel. The check I made on the showed the switch and valve worked well.

Let us know.

Steve
