Measurement......

Hello all,
Does anyone here have a 1996 F350, std cab, 5.8L, 4x4 with the stock front suspension? If so would you mind giving your measurement from the top of the front hub to the top of the front wheel well arc? I'm trying to find an average height, seems so many are much different than mine. Also what size tire (diameter) are you running with the stock front suspension?

Thanks, Bill

mine is a 460 but only a few pounds difference in weight, in the other thread you posted about the rsk, i put up measurements of mine before and after for you to compare, mine were center of hub to fender lip. and ground to fender.
stock suspension 4x4 with bfg 315/75/16
Here they are again, these are before any modifications to suspension and tires at 40 psi

center of Hub to fender lip: ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Ground to fender:
,,L/F 24 5/8",,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, L/F 40 1/2"
,,R/F 24 5/8",,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, R/F 40 1/2"
,,L/R 26 3/4" ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,L/R 42 3/4"
,,R/R 26 3/4" ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, R/R 42 3/4"

Thanks Matt

Now that you mentioned it your post looked familiar. That information is just what I was looking for. I guess I forgot what I read in the previous post after looking at the many options available for the front springs. My front measurements are exactly the same from center of hub to wheel well lip, 24 5/8". Interesting that you have a 460, I wonder what that would do for me if I used stock OEM springs for a 460, besides a little harsher ride. Any idea of the Dia of those bfg 315/75/16? Actually I can pprobably look that up on tirerack. Thanks again for the information and taking the time to reply.

Matt...

Do you mind telling what your front spring code is? I just want to see if it is in fact different than mine with the 5.8L.

Thanks, Bill

No Problem.
if im reading my vin tag correctly, it is 8f
the front of my truck is rated at 4800lbs, and the truck in total is rated at 9k lbs
swapping to 460 springs would not be worth the time if you ask me

Nothing Special...Thank you for the tire dimensions.

Matt... You weren't able to fit those (315/75/16) on your truck with the stock suspension were you? A couple posts up it looked like you said that's what you had on with the stock setup.

Thanks, Bill
